Passion for the water
Growing up in Crimea on the Black Sea, Anton was around boats all his life. At the age of 6, he joined a local yacht club, which became his second home. Attending the club 6 days a week, he learned not only how to sail but also how to take care of his boat, so that it would run smoothly and help him win the race. Over the years, he has mastered rigging, fiberglass repairs, polish, wax bottoms, and much more.
Once in the States, he built his network through sailing enthusiasts and landed a job at a prestigious marina on Long Island, NY. He continued expanding my skillset and learned fiberglass, gelcoat, awl grip, varnish, carpentry. In the spring and fall rush seasons, he would get involved in rigging – stepping, unstepping, masts, tuning, and also took on the mechanical work – changing fuel oil, filters, gear oil, impellers, thermostats, checking and installing batteries, water systems, electric, heads. He was always motivated to learn new things, to the point that there was no marine-related job that he could not do. Outside of his time in the marina, he was actively involved in local and regional sailing regattas on racing boats up to 55’ from Newport to Key West, and was also running 40’ racing boat program.
